- The Laser
Research Group at the Div. of Materials Processing is the largest
university and institute based research facility in Sweden, comprising
eight researchers, PhD –students and support staff.
We are
mainly working in the areas of laser welding and surface treatment
but we are also interest in cutting, drilling, rapid prototyping
and other laser manufacturing technologies. Most of the work
is performed in co-operation with industry.
The group
has a modern and flexible laser laboratory with 4 kW and 260W
Nd:YAG-lasers, 6 and 1,7 kW CO2-lasers which can be used on
three work stations, the largest comprising a 3D work volume
of 3,2 x 2,2 x 0,9 meters.
